silent disco AR headset
Project Goal
The goal of this project was to create a fun experience with the use of augmented reality (AR). AR integrated with silent disco will form the same effect for participants, but not just through what one is listening to but also through what one is seeing. This creates a more immersed experience for those wearing the headset, where those without it are left out of the fun.
Prototypes
This rapid prototype focused on overall dimensions and ergonomics. The adjustment knob on the back allowed it to fit on multiple user’s head. Users commented that it was comfy, but some had wished that there was an adjustment for the headphones since they did not line up correctly with their ears. Some were also worried about the distance between the visor and their nose. This input was taken into consideration moving forward.

Adjustments
Based on user feedback, another prototype was created to focus on controls and adjustments. The turning dial to adjust volume and the side button to switch radio channels. Users are able to adjust the headband, visor, and headphones enabling ARAVE to fit a variety of head-shapes.
The dance test
Each model had to prove its worth by withstanding the constant movement of head banging and fist pumping. There were no issues that occurred during each test. Both prototypes stayed snug on the users head while dancing.

Control
ARAVE offers multiple adjustments to fit your needs. Adjust the headband, visor, and headphones to your comfort. At an ARAVE event, you can switch between DJ radio channels with a simple press of the channel button. Control the volume with LED lit dial, which indicates what DJ you are listening to and what augmented reality you are experiencing. Take breaks or opt out of the AR experience with a simple press of a button.
